For the past two years, IEF has worked diligently to establish a new, social enterprise eye clinic in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. Together with support from Vision for the Poor, a Pennsylvania based charity with which IEF has worked on a number of successful projects, the clinic opened its doors and began seeing patients in June.
I am pleased to announce that Clinica Oftalmologica Ojo Sano had its ‘soft opening” this morning with dignitaries and supporters present.
John Barrows, IEF’s Vice President for Programs, is in Managua this week for the event and has been interviewed with the clinic’s director Dr. Abraham Delgado on TV and in the press.
Board member Julia Hopping’s son Mario Sacasa, head of Future of Nicaragua in Managua, was also present.
